Vertigo Voss 2007 is open to Solo Pilots or Teams ( Synchro ) in Paragliding and Solo Pilots in Hanggliding.

Maximum allowed number of Pilots in each Catagory of the Competition:

• Solo Paragliding - 30 Pilots + 8 norwegian pilots for the Norwegian Championships 2007
• Synchro Paragliding - 10 Teams ( 20 Pilots )
• Hanggliding - 10 Pilots

Registration Closes 4 weeks prior to the Competition, making the 28th of May the last day you can registrate. It is the Organizers discretion to accept registrations received after this date if open spaces are still available.

The Registration Fee is € 100,- per pilot for each Catagory, to be paid online via PayPal before the 28th of May. It is possible to registrate for both Catagories in the Paragliding Competition, selection of double registred Pilots will still be according to the WAPRS list.

The registration Fee covers Breakfast Thursday, Friday and Saturday during the Competition. Included is also a Lunch packet the same days. Entrance to all main events during the Extremesports Week is Included. ( ExtremePass ©) The Registration Fee does not cover accommodation during the event - all pilots will have to make their own arrangements upfront.

Pilots wishing to sign up for the Competition MUST use the online form and complete all fields. We will not SPAM you but will use E-mail communication to inform you about important issues and updates before your arrival here.

In case more pilots registrer than the maximum number we accept in each Catagory there will be a selection of pilots allowed in the Competition based on the following Local Rules:

• Pilots Ranked Highest on the International WAPRS are allowed in first
• Two Local Pilots are allowed in at the catagory of their choice ( Wildcards )
• If more spaces still are free these will be given to pilots with most documentet competition experience. This will be 4 weeks prior to the Competition. The selection will be made by the organizers in cooperation with the Judges panel and can not be appealed.

In case less than 5 qualified teams registrer for the Synchro Paragliding Category we reserve the rights to cancel the Category from this years Vertigo Voss competition. The decision will be made shortly after the 28th of May after closure of the registation period.

In order to qualify for the Competition your flying abilities and your equipment must meet those criterias set forth in the FAI Rules and Local Rules - refer also to the Equipment Safety Check pages. The manouevers that you will need to master in order to qualify are:

• Full stall+ Exit
• Tail Slide + Exit
• Wing Over
• SAT
• Helico

All pilots unknown to the judges/Jury will be asked to perform these manouvers on a demonstration flight prior to competition start.

All pilots who has registrated for the competition by the 28th of May will be informed by e-mail the week after whether they have been allowed into the Competition in case of too many signed up Pilots.

The Competition begins on Monday ay the 25th of June with Registration of all signed up Pilots from 1400 to 1700 at the lobby of the Festival tent. The Registration Fee is € 100,- and is paid online before arrival in Voss.

At the Registration you will need to bring the following - ALREADY FILLED OUT:

• Your Valid National Paragliding License
• Your Valid FAI Sporting License
• Proof of 3rd Party Liability Insurance
• Your complete set of flying equipment

The Competition will run over 5 days, including Monday and Friday. Flying is scheduled for Tuesday to Friday, Saturday the 30th of June is a reserve day in case we have not succeded having one ( 1 ) Completed and Approved Round before then ( New Rules 2007 ) This means in reality that the Competition most likely will finish on Friday the 29th of June.

For the Paragliding Catagories the Primary mean for Launch will be boat towing

The Hanggliding Competition will use the same 3 Custom built winchboats to tow the Pilots aloft. Also here we reserve the rights to move a part of the Competition to alternative sites if conditions ( weather or technical ) dictates so.

Before arriving at Voss it is your responsibility to make sure that you have read the Rules sections, the Equipment Safety Check section and the information provided to registred Pilots in E-mails sent to you before the Competition.

The Organizers are entitled to Issue Warnings that may affect you during the Competition. These will be given in case of, but not limited to, breach of the following local rules:

• Failure or Ignorance to follow Instructions given from Either one of the 5 Catagories listed above which as a consequence results in a breach on our safety standards.
• Showing Up late for Briefings or Check-In times for Competition Rounds
• Any breach on established rules that are announced in the FAI Compendium or local Rules
• Failure to follow proper Instructed Procedures for towing.

The Above points are areas where the Judges typically do not see situations happening and we here give credit to our Crew in Judgement of what is reasonable. You can off course file a Protest against a warning if you feel it has been issued on wrong terms.

How to file a Protest: You will have to file any protest in writing, delivered to the Chief Judge between Competition Rounds. The Protest Fee is set to NOK ( Norwegian Kroner ) 500,- which will be refunded in full if your Protest is approved. If The Warning still stands after being investigated by the Judges and the Organizers, you loose the Protest Fee paid. 3 People will in general work together in order to decide whether a Protest is granted or denied - ensuring an unbiased decision making.

Pilots wishing to file a protest after the publication of their scores in the last round flown must do so in writing within 1 hour from the time the results were published.

Some other important rules related to the Competition:

• Pilots will be allowed a second attempt to fly a task in case of a linebreak during the tow that results in the Pilot being unable to reach the Flying Box with a minimum of 600 meters of altitude over the lake.
• If the Pilots wants to claim their second attempt they must not begin their manouvers or program. Doing so voids their chance of being granted a second attempt to fly the task.
• All Rounds of the Paragliding Competition, Solo & Synchro will be with a raft landing, unless conditions do not allow so or make it sensible to do so.
• You will need a spare reserve, dry - in order to continue flying if you have landed in the water after a failed raft landing
• The Organizers will provide an indoor area for drying out wet equipment after water landings. There will also be a safe area for keeping Equipment stored overnight. Any Equipment laying around at the end of the day will be collected for storage if forgotten outside. Information on how and where to access the drying and storage area will be given in the Participants Welcome Package handed out at the Registration.
• The Organizers hold a limited amount of Spare Reserves available for rent ( Euro 50,- ) per day in case you fail to organize your own spare.
• The Organizers will provide a " On Site " Repair facility that will be available to pilots damaging equipment during the Competition. This facility is not free of Charge and any repairs necessary will be charged to the Pilot at loft rates.

Some other important points:

• Daily Weather Updates will be posted in the mornings and the immediate forecast for the next few hours will be briefed before each Round as a part of the Task Briefing.

The Vertigo Voss 2007 Aerobatic Competition is arranged by the Voss Hang- & Paraglider Club in Parallel with the Extremesportsweek. It attracts more than 1000 registred Extremesports Participants, from which about 250+ is Paragliding or Hanggliding Pilots. We are therefore not the only traffic in the air at the time of training, competition or Shows, meaning that extraordinary demands are requested in terms of safe Airmanship.

In order to simplify this information please read and understand the following:

All air traffic related to Hang- or Paragliding is observed by our safety officers. As a Hot Ace Pilot our flying skills are probably better ( we certainly hope so! ) than the average pilot. You will need to consider others when you fly and obey local rules as we can not keep two sets of rules.

The main rules you need to be aware of as a Competitor are:

• During the Competition the Airspace is divided for safety reasons. Please make sure to check for mistaken traffic below you before you start your manouvers.
• You have to fly with a helmet at all times in Voss. Bicycle Type helmets are not allowed.
• You also have to use a helmet when ground handling your glider.
• No Aerobatic Manuovers are allowed under 100 meters of altitude, unless specified by briefing from the judges.
• No Hang- or Paragliding is allowed in the Drop Zone area of the Skydiving Club. Information about these NO FLY AREAS will be given in the welcome package.
• A certain area will be allocated for towing during the Extremesportsweek. Please show consideration and avoid blocking the airspace straight forward from the launch by flying here.
• No Death Spirals over land allowed
• No Aerobatic Manouvers allowed over the water if no Rescue Boats are present and staffed.
